LECTURE AND DISPLAY, RIVER LEE HOTEL CORK CITY

Padraig Óg Ó RuaircPOSTED ON BEHALF OF: The Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation

The Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation are happy to announce a lecture and display at the The River Lee Hotel (formerly Jurys Hotel), Western Road, Cork City on Friday, July 8th.

The subject of the lecture will be the Anglo-Irish truce of July 1921. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the agreement and the lecture will be the only event in Ireland thus far to mark the passing of this momentous event in Irish history.

The lecture will be given by Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation member Padraig O’Ruairc. Padraig is a well-known author and historian and many will be familiar with his books such as “Blood on the Banner” and “The Battle for Limerick City.”

The lecture will take place at 7 pm followed by a question and answer discussion period. The event will close at 9 pm.

An exhibition of Irish Volunteer items from 1913 to 1923 will be on display before the lecture and we will have members on hand to answer any questions from the general public. The room will be open to the public from 5.30 pm.

Entry to the general public will be €5. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Space will be limited to 100 persons approximately.
