We at The Irish Story aim to tell great stories about Irish history and maybe even to help understand it as well. So we are delighted to see that Listowel Writers’ week is having a history workshop Great Tales from Irish History from June 2 – 4.
Robert Lacey, distinguished author of, among other works, Inside the Kingdom (on Saudi Arabia) and Great Tales from English History will be running the workshop, with the aim of “recounting Ireland’s history from before St. Patrick up to Bobby Sands and The Good Friday Agreement” and is looking for 15 other writers to join him.
Yours truly (John Dorney) , will be there.
Those interested in being part of this workshop should email Listowel Writers’ Week at info@writersweek.ie on or before the 18th February 2011 with a sample story from Irish History that you would like to write about (800 words max and must be in word or legible jpeg or pdf format).
The selected participants will work with Robert during the festival to hatch and shape an entire and original book Great Tales from Irish History, with each tale credited to its author. This is a great chance for aspiring non fiction writers to get published, with royalties going to Listowel Writers’ Week to support future projects.
